What Your Benefits Usually Include

Coverage varies by plan and employer, but most vision benefits include some combination of the following each benefit year. We'll confirm your specific allowances before your appointment.

Annual Eye Exam

A comprehensive exam to check your prescription, eye health, and screen for conditions like glaucoma, diabetes, and macular degeneration.

Eyeglasses

Frame and lens allowances toward your choice from our designer collection—Ray-Ban, Tom Ford, Tiffany & Co., Persol, Prada, and more.

Prescription Sunglasses

Many plans apply your frame and lens allowance toward Rx sunwear from Maui Jim, Oakley, Costa, and other premium brands.

Contact Lenses

A separate contact lens allowance covers the fitting plus a year's supply of lenses—often in lieu of the eyeglass benefit.

Medical Eye Care

Diabetic eye exams, dry eye, glaucoma, infections, and other medical conditions are billed to your medical insurance—often with a copay.

FSA & HSA Accepted

Use your Flexible Spending or Health Savings Account toward exams, glasses, contacts, and dry eye treatments at any of our locations.

Two benefits, one visit. Some patients carry both a vision plan (for routine care) and medical insurance (for eye disease). Our billing team can coordinate both to maximize your coverage—just bring both cards to your appointment.

Insurance, Answered

What's the difference between vision insurance and medical insurance?

Vision insurance (like VSP, EyeMed, and Spectera) covers routine eye exams, glasses, and contacts. Medical insurance (like Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, and Medicare) covers eye conditions and disease—diabetic eye exams, dry eye, glaucoma, infections, and emergency visits. Many of our patients use both during the same visit when appropriate.

How do I find out what my plan covers before my visit?

Call any of our four locations with your insurance card handy. Our team will run a benefits check and walk you through your annual exam coverage, frame and lens allowance, contact lens allowance, copays, and any out-of-pocket estimate before you arrive.

Can I use my vision benefits and HSA/FSA together?

Yes. We accept FSA, HSA, and HRA cards alongside your vision benefits. Your HSA or FSA can be used for any remaining balance, lens upgrades (like blue-light filtering or transitions), prescription sunglasses, contact lenses, and dry eye treatments not covered by insurance.

Do you accept out-of-network plans?

Yes. If we're not in-network with your specific plan, we'll provide a detailed receipt (a "superbill") that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Many of our patients are surprised at how much their plan still covers.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Your vision insurance card, your medical insurance card (if different), a photo ID, your current glasses or contact lens prescription if available, and any FSA/HSA cards you plan to use. New patients can also complete registration online in advance to save time.

Does Medicare cover routine eye exams?

Original Medicare doesn't cover routine vision exams or eyewear, but it does cover medical eye exams for conditions like diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and post-cataract surgery follow-up. Many Medicare Advantage plans (often through Humana or UnitedHealthcare) add a routine vision benefit on top—we'll verify yours before your visit.

I'm a veteran. Can I be seen here?

Yes. We're in-network with TriWest, the VA Community Care Network, which allows eligible veterans referred by the VA to receive eye care at our offices. We also accept TRICARE for active-duty service members, retirees, and their families.

Let Centennial Family Eyecare of Las Vegas and VSP (Vision Service Plan) help you take care of your vision and look fantastic at the same time in great designer eyewear and skillfully-fitted contact lenses.

As a VSP provider, Centennial Family Eyecare. provides you with quality vision care, a wide range of stylish designer eyewear and the personal attention that can only come from an independent VSP doctor and VSP optometrist.

The VSP vision service plan is considered one of the premier vision insurance plans in the United States. To ensure the highest level of vision care, VSP only allows independent, private-practice Optometrists and Ophthalmologists to participate as VSP providers. And because private practice eye doctors stay with their patients year-after-year, choosing a VSP optometrist means you won't have to worry seeing a new doctor each year.

Depending on your employer's particular VSP Vision Services Plan, VSP vision insurance benefits vary from person-to-person. The best way to determine exactly what your VSP benefits will be is to contact us or check your benefits on the VSP website: www.vsp.com/signon.html. Or, if you already know your VSP benefits, you can schedule an eye exam now.
